This month we had the pleasure of working with Josie Barber of effortlessly stylish fashion and lifestyle blog By Barber to create the ultimate casual dining space. The result is this beautiful, tranquil dining room – a little bit Scandi, a little bit contemporary – which we would easily enjoy sitting at for a lazy Sunday morning breakfast (or any meal for that matter!). We chatted with Josie to find out all about what home is to her, the new dining space she’s created, her signature dish and her favourite T&W pieces for minimal, laid-back styling.
Home to me is… A place to feel comfortable, and inspired.
My favourite thing about my new dining space is… The practicality of it. During the day I use it as a work space, it’s the perfect place to reply to emails, shoot flatlays & create content. Then in the evenings it’s a cozy dining area for me to enjoy dinner with my partner Luke. The Ash Coco dining table, wishbone chairs and Floti Scandinavian rug suit the style of our home perfectly.
The best purchase I’ve ever made for my home is… My Temple & Webster Blush Tribal Canvas artwork. It completely transformed my living room, cannot imagine my walls without it now.
Dining rooms should be… Inviting, comfortable, and chic of course.
My perfect interior space includes… An incredible rug! I think textiles make such a difference to any space.
My signature dish is… Spaghetti Bolognese. Just ask my partner Luke, I’ll come up with any excuse to make it!
My tipple of choice is… A glass of Pinot Grigio.
I feel happiest when… I’m at home on a Sunday morning, having coffee in bed with Luke and our Labrador Oskar.
Melbourne’s best kept secret is… Dumbo in West Footscray, best Almond Milk Lattes in the west.
