It’s a new year, and the perfect time to turn over a new leaf, try a fresh look, reorganise, or face a DIY challenge you’ve been meaning to tackle. We asked our team to share some of their New Year Style Resolutions, starting with T&W stylist Allira Bell, who plans to bring some drama to the bedroom, revamp her outdoor space and add her own art to the decorating mix.  If you’re looking for some inspiration, why not join us to learn the secrets of styling online at our new T&W Style School.

Style a bedroom canopy
We’ve had fun in the studio this year draping fabric to create a dramatic bedroom, so I’m keen to try it at home – it’s a simple way to add dimension and a dreamy look. I prefer darker linen on my bed (try the new Bed by Temple & Webster Indigo Frayed Quilt Cover), so adding white linen over the top will freshen up the space for summer. I have a Megan Morton for Incy Interiors four-poster bed, so the frame is already in place. I’ll be buying up rolls of linen, leave the edges frayed, and draping and gathering it over the frame.

Create an outdoor room
My outdoor space at home is a covered patio that leads through to the entrance, so the space needs to feel welcoming but also a private, comfortable space to spend time outdoors. I want to bring in a small table and chairs in rattan, which is trending at the moment, complemented with some colourful outdoor cushions. As it’s an undercover area, I can probably get away with using a jute rug to define the space.

Build up my art collection
My walls at home are currently artless! I’ve had my eye on some of the beautiful framed prints we work with every day (my current favourite is Midnight Dreams). I’d love to try making wire sculptures like the ones from Basic Curate and work them in with affordable art prints to add dimension as well as a personal touch.
